Students can earn college credit while in high school through SSA’s Dual Enrollment (DE) and Advanced Placement (AP) programs. Both DE and AP courses are presented on SSA’s campus by an SSA instructor who has been certified in the program. While DE courses follow the curriculum developed by the applicable university, AP courses follow the curriculum developed by both high school and college faculty under the auspices of College Board®. Successful completion of these courses decreases the hours necessary for a student to obtain a college degree thereby reducing the overall cost of college tuition. Students taking all DE coursework available can earn 39 to 45 college credit hours. Up to 30+ college credits can be earned through the AP program.
St. Scholastica Academy implements the University of Texas at Austin’s Engineer Your
World curriculum to offer students a dual enrollment course in engineering. “Engineer Your World is an innovative, student-centered curriculum that engages learners in authentic engineering experiences and inspires them to embrace an engineer’s habits of mind. Collaborative, student-directed projects build resilient problem-solving skills and empower students to think like engineers, to adopt engineering processes, and to pursue engineering disciplines for the betterment of our world.” © 2024 Engineer Your World
SSA also partners with Louisiana State University’s STEM Pathways to offer students in-depth studies in one of four pathways - computing, digital design, pre-engineering, and pre-healthcare sciences.
